Just a few words about the words
"immoral" and "austerity". We
are (perhaps?) so conditioned to think these words relate to sexuality, food
we want to eat, and maybe something we want to do, or have that in actuality is pretty innocuous or insignificant.
This is not the kind of "immoral" behavior Jiddu Krishnamurti
is talking about.
The kind of immoral behavior that he is talking about is
poisoning the land, air and water (generating nuclear waste
for example). It is the use of violence (war)
to resolve problems. And it is about exploitative
economics, and usery.
Regarding "austerity", this too, perhaps, carries images of
Puritanism. Again, this is not what Jiddu
Krishnamurti is talking about. It is more about being aware
of consequences, or cause and effect, and acting
accordingly.
