A dedication to whole and organically raised food and faith in
its power to help prevent disease.
This community would take health and preventing
degenerative disease very, very seriously. And as soon as possible, this
community (when self sufficient in these) will not purchase any
fruits, vegetables or animal products. And as a "community" will purchase only
the most basic of foodstuffs (which would be
impractical to grow) in bulk such as
grain, legumes, seeds, oil and unrefined sweeteners.
It would probably have to
be required that everyone be knowledgeable in a basic sort of way
regarding the basic principles behind healthy living. It is
well known that most degenerate disease is preventable. If we
are going to believe this at all, it seems we should have faith in
it. But faith in this requires practice and attention to
detail. It is theorized that living in this communal and
cooperative way it would be much easier to eat in a consistently
healthy way, and so, live a long life without any degenerate
disease. But to have this kind of faith, one has to read
books, one has to think for oneself and then one has to know what to
do, what to eat and how to live.
There would be challenges of
course, perhaps regarding individual tastes and desires regarding food in particular; but there are solutions......if the
desire for them sincerely exists. In this case, individual co-ops catering to
special needs-desires, functioning within the community kitchen-dinning room system, perhaps
would provide an answer.
Regarding the issue of health insurance:
in a sense, society hasn't come up with any good answers about this
either. Prevention is truly the best answer. As for
accidents and such, perhaps the community could have a collective
fund put away for such events, say 10,000 or $20,000.
